Jean Abraham

Jean Abraham is a Professor in the Division of Health Policy and Management, located within the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. She is a health economist with expertise in private health insurance, healthcare delivery, and federal health policy. Throughout her career, she has pursued health policymaking opportunities within the legislative and executive branches, including service as a senior economist on health issues with the President's Council of Economic Advisers in Washington, D.C., for the Bush and Obama administrations. Jean was born and raised in Arizona in a small town just west of Phoenix. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 1995 with double major in Economics and Political Science, and was an engaged member of the Honors Program. During her time at the UA, she benefited greatly from the generosity of faculty mentors, who helped her prepare for graduate education pursuits. In 2001, she completed her PhD in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and then moved to Minnesota to launch her faculty career.
