Margaret Beaubien
Margaret is a retired Navy Captain, Nurse Corps whose areas of expertise include critical care nursing, information technology and public speaking. She enjoys meeting people and sharing information. As a naval officer, just one of her many jobs was training corpsmen, especially when preparing for deployment. Beaubien retired from the Navy in 2015 having completed her career as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Military Health System and the Deputy Director, Health Information Technology at the Defense Health Agency. She was instrumental is overseeing the development and instillation of Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs information technology solutions for multiple data sharing initiatives. Beaubien earned a bachelor’s of science degree from the U of A College of Nursing, a master’s of science degree from Michigan State University, and a master’s of science degree in nursing from the University of San Diego in Health Care Systems with a focus in clinical information systems. She is the recipient of numerous awards throughout her naval career. These include The Defense Superior Service Medal, and the Legion of Merit. She coauthored a chapter in a Nursing Informatics book with an updated edition due out soon. Beaubien was born and raised in Arizonan. She is the parent of two adult children, both graduates of the U of A. The proud grandmother of four, she now resides in Napa, CA, where she remains active with volunteer activities.
