A native of Phoenix, Dr. Butler received his Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education/Biology as well as his MD from the University of Arizona. He served as scholarship chairman for Sigma Chi Fraternity and was involved in the honoraries all 4 years, including Bobcats his senior year. He completed post-graduate training in Emergency Medicine at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Butler is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Butler is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine with the University of Arizona College of Medicine- Phoenix. He is also clinical faculty, seeing patients and teaching in the emergency medicine residency program at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Butler also serves as a Commander in the US Navy Reserves, having been deployed 3 times, including Okinawa as well as combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq.
Dr. Butler served on the University of Arizona Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2000-2006 as the representative from the College of Medicine. His wife, Stephanie, is a graduate from the UofA and their kids are both 4th generation UofA wildcats/alumni.
