Daniel Kates MD, MBA
Daniel received his undergraduate and MD degree from the University of Arizona, completed his internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Emergency Medicine at Maricopa Integrated Health System, and earned his MBA from Golden Gate University. He also served in the California State Military Reserve and held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, functioning as a Battalion Medical Officer and Company Commander. Daniel started his career in drug R&D with Abbott after having practiced clinical medicine for over a decade. He then spent 14 years at Gilead Sciences helping to build and lead various aspects of Medical Affairs, ultimately serving as the Global Head of Medical Affairs Operations. He next served as Vice President & Head of Medical Affairs at Achaogen from 2017-2019. Most recently, he joined Cytokinetics in April 2019 as Vice President of Medical Affairs. Daniel enjoys spending time with his wife, daughters, and dogs at their home in Sedona.
