Melissa Zabor

Melissa Zabor has served as a Commissioner for the Maricopa County Superior Court since 2017. She is currently assigned to the Criminal Department and oversees settlement conferences, changes of plea, jury trials, and sentencings. Before taking the bench, she worked as an attorney and a supervisor for the Maricopa County Office of the Legal Advocate in criminal public defense. She also taught business law at Chandler Gilbert Community College for five years, worked in private practice, and worked as a prosecutor for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Commissioner Zabor earned both her Juris Doctorate and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Arizona. During undergrad, she was the Drum Major for the University of Arizona Pride of Arizona and traveled with the men’s basketball team to the final game in 2001. She is an active member of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association and the Maricopa County Bar Association and previously served as the Maricopa County president of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association. She is dedicated to working with newer attorneys and helping them find their way in the profession. In her spare time, she enjoys playing golf, skiing with her family, and reading.
